Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have incurred a terrible cost in human life,
and our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected.
While doing so we cannot forget the pets who are companions to the lonely, sight for the blind, friends and family for their human caretakers.

Local shelters are moving from disaster recovery to normal operations.

If you have lost a pet during the hurricane, please enter the zip code (or city name) where the pet was lost and click "Find Shelters". Besides selecting the "Hurricane Katrina Pets" links, be sure to select the local shelters as well. It may be that your pet was not picked up during the hurricane but afterwards and, therefore, may not be specifically flagged as a hurricane pet.

Project "BArkansas"
400 Animals have been rescued in a massive cruelty investigation in Arkansas. Some of these animals may have been owned by other people than the one who gathered them. If you are missing a pet and live in the Arkansas area, click the link to see the animals.
