**Has been on Needs Rescue since 05/17/23***

Tito is a boy with the most infectious happy face and endearing smile. This boy has made some improvement and has been learning that people are awesome and mean good things - play time and treats! Tito has a jaw deformity that gives him a constant low rumble we now refer to as the “Tito purr”! It’s hard not to smile and laugh when you’re with Tito! Tito is a social boy who loves people, dogs, and toys. He forms strong bonds with the people he adores! Tito needs an experienced household and lots of patience. Will you be his new favorite person?

ACA went to move dog for pride staff to clean, dog was lunging and snapping at the leash. Other staff member went to take out and was able to leash after a few minutes, once leashed able to take out, however unable to do any handling. Dog would back away with stiff body posture when attempting to pet and handle.

Reason animal needs rescue: Unacceptable length of stay, very stressed in shelter, behavioral concerns make staff handling and routine exercise challenging. Mental health has deteriorated since being in the shelter.

Additional notes: Healthy, neutered young pitbull mix with a unique face (severe overbite). No major medical concerns since being in shelter, though behavior is declining. Several volunteers are able to handle with no trouble, but he needs time to warm up to you. He is extremely stressed in the shelter.

Displaying whale eye / dialated eyes at front of kennel, when attempting interaction, dog growls and stiffens body with tail tucked. When moving around in kennel keeps eye on person while alarm barking. Unsafe body langauge to remove from the kennel at this time. H.Renshaw/ m.kameda

Tito has been placed on urgent needs rescue due to poor kennel presence. Medical had to do a cageside exam. Also on needs rescue due to length of stay.

When approaching kennel, dog was back of kennel barking, lunging at leash. Was able to lasso and remove from kennel, took several minutes to calm down. When handing over for DDO, he was still very fearful and not taking treats, tail tucked between legs. DDO volunteers decided not to take Tito out for the day due to his behavior.

Large Dog Observation Notes:
Intake Type: Stray
Sociability: Nervous, tail tucked, stiff body posture, loosens up slightly when out in the yard. Body posture is much better with staff he is comfortable with.
Handling: Unable to complete full handling at this time.
D2D Like sized: Has done well in playgroups with other like sized dogs.
Food/Treats: unknown
Kennel Presence: Backs away when attempting to leash, barks in kennel. Able to leash and take out.
Additional Notes: Takes time to warm up, has shown improved behavior with people he is comfortable with.

Renewing rescue request. Not doing well in shelter. He is very stressed out and continued to have stress induced GI problems.

Recommend special adoption or rescue, dog is very destressed in shelter. Hunchted over with averting eyes when coaxed. Alamr barking with constant coaxing. When approaching with treat, low growl with mouth closed . Needs rescue by: 08/01

Reason animal needs rescue: Growling freezing, baring teeth when attempting to leash to take outside. Doesn't calm down enough to allow leashing at this time.
