DOG DAY OUT REPORT
Today I: took a walk around Almaden Lake Park. There were lots of people and other dogs at the park. I watched geese walk on the grass and fly over the water. I enjoyed lots of smells along the trail. I noticed other people on the trail and wanted to say hi. I get really excited when I see other dogs and I want to go to them! There are so many sights and smells to experience that I wish I could take my time taking it all in.

Three Words to Describe Me are: Alert, Playful, and Sweet
Notes from My Walker: Ms. Incredible appears to be less skeptical and more comfortable when I greet her at the shelter. I feel she may have recognized me this time for DDO, and it was easier for her to get into the car. We enjoyed our time during the car ride and she does well in the car. We had a pleasant time at the park with a brisk walk and rest breaks. She does well on the leash and walks along the trail. Although, I feel Ms. Incredible is adapting well to unfamiliar situations and surroundings, she needs more time to learn how to interact with new environments. I feel these are some of the first walks she has ever had in her life. She can get over-stimulated with lots of activity around her. Sometimes she appears alert and seems to be "on the lookout.” I would choose a quieter walk in a neighborhood for our next DDO. She does get boisterous around small dogs/ animals and pulls on the leash in attempt to get closer to them. Therefore, I would not recommend a household with small dogs. I hope someone gives Ms. Incredible a chance to re-live her puppy years and have patience with her. She’s a really good dog!

Reason animal needs rescue: Extended length of stay, stressed in shelter, very anxious and nervous
Type: Behavior
Date animal needs rescue by: End of May
Impound type: Stray
Off stray hold: Yes
Additional notes: Spayed adult female, no known health concerns. Very stressed and shutting down in shelter environment. Persistent conjunctivitis, but staff is uncomfortable medicating due to avoidant behavior. Does well outside of kennel, but remains shy. No aggression noted, but very fearful.

Behavior notes (04/03/24): Dog will avoid and growl with whale eye with new people when attempting to remove from kennel. Staff is able to get dog out but adopter would need to understant that this dog will easily startle with loud noises and may be slow to warm up to strangers in home.

Today I: walked around Willow Glen neighborhood with a few rest stops for water and rest. At first I was unsure of the plan for the day, but once I got lots of treats and encouragement I was excited to be outdoors! Iespecially loved walking in the grass and seeing other people and dogs playing at the park!

Three Words to Describe Me are: Friendly, Calm, Sweet
Notes from My Walker: When I picked up Ms. Incredible from the shelter she appeared apprehensive or scared with her tail tightly between her legs. I think this was her first DDO, and she is still adjusting to the shelter routine/ environment. After taking time to introduce myself, she allowed me to pick her up and put her in the car. She did exceptionally well in the car ride and appeared calm. We decided to walk around Willow Glen neighborhood. She seemed to love prancing on the plush grass and enjoyed sniffing around. When we walked to the park, she saw other dogs, a little league baseball team, and other people playing pickle ball. When she saw this park activity, her playful energy lit up. She went from having her tail between her legs to a playful, curious, smile on her face. She seems interested in other dogs, but in a playful way.

I am aware she arrived at the shelter with her puppy. Unbeknownst to me she was able to get nose to nose with a neighborhood cat hiding in the bushes, but she was easily redirected by me and she did not pull me on the leash. She rolled around on her back in the grass and offered me kisses during the car ride! She doesn’t really know her name or other demands, but she was very easy to “handle” and to walk on the leash. If you are looking to adopt or know someone who is thinking of adopting, please consider Ms. Incredible!
