Foster notes, 5/2/24:
Gladdis is well mannered. She is a beautiful dog with the most expressive eyes. She loves long walks, easy jogs, neighbors and their treats, bathing in the sun, rolling in freshly mowed grass... While on a leash, Gladdis has met children that were reminded that dogs need slow introductions and have their own space around them. She met passive and playful dogs while on a leash. Gladdis has lived with my cat for 1 month and she basically ignored him. She does not like unruly or ill mannered dogs. She will snicker to let them know she is unhappy and walk away. Gladdis is potty trained and will walk to the door a few times if she needs to go out. She loves her walks, so she does not potty as soon as she is let outside. Gladdis was not destructive but did find my late husband's NY Yankees slippers and chewed on it for one day. I guess she is an Atlanta Braves fan! Gladdis is precious and will bring you a lifetime of love and happiness if you are there for her. She enjoys meeting new people, walks well on leash, does well with small children, and is crate trained.

Dog Day Out notes, 4/1/24:
After 7 years of not owning a dog, Gladdis is a breath of fresh air. She’s an absolute sweetheart and I can tell she loves the outdoors. She was hesitant getting in my car the first time so I put her in which she didn’t mind. I met with my dad and we took her to Morgan Creek Trail in Chapel Hill and the Saxapahaw Island Park, and she did really well on the drive to both areas. She looked out the window and laid down for most of the ride. I’ve walked her a few times before at the shelter but she was great meeting my dad for the first time! It did take a little effort to get her out of the car but she was happy to be out once she realized we would be walking. She walks SO well and enjoyed some time in nature, sniffing around along the way. We encountered a few other dogs while walking but she didn’t really react to any of them. We also saw some squirrels but she didn’t chase after them. After our walks she was ready to lay down and immediately jumped into the car without help! Gladdis slept soundly for the rest of the ride back to the shelter, and as someone mentioned before she definitely does have the cutest snore!!! :)

Dog Day Out notes, 3/15/24:
Gladdis is an ANGEL. She is very timid but the sweetest girl. She is the best passenger in the car, she stays in the backseat and spends most of the time either lying down or looking out the window. Gladdis was very hesitant to get in and out of the car, but once she was able to get out of the car she did a great job on the leash. She loves to sniff around in the grass and responds very well to redirection! We saw several other people and dogs on our walk and she had zero signs of reactivity, just simply minded her own business. She also takes treats very gently and had great manners as I was eating my lunch. Her favorite part of the day was definitely her big nap in the car (p.s. she has the cutest snore). Gladdis would do best in a home where she has lotsss of love and comfort.

Dog Day Out notes, 3/8/24:
We went on a walk and then took a drive in the car! She loved laying on the floor and was super chill, she just wanted some love and to relax on the seat of the car. She was nervous in the car on the way home but was easy to calm down once I stopped and showed her some affection. She is SO sweet and timid.

Dog Day Out notes, 2/28/24:
We took Gladdis to hang out with me and my clients on our farm in Graham. Gladdis enjoyed walking around the property and taking in all the sights and smells! She also watched TV quite intently with us, turning her head at the different voices on the TV. She mostly just wanted to nap on a bean bag chair in our living room and be pet today. Gladdis is pretty shy, so she spent a lot of today just hanging out with us and observing her surroundings. She is extremely sweet, but also very shy. She would startle easily if any unexpected noises were made around her, and was also pretty anxious in the car. She definitely likes meeting new people, but was sometimes wary about being taken to a new location (like being brought into a house or a vehicle). She is extremely sweet and polite, and I think she will make a wonderful pet given some time to open up and become comfortable.
