Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
I was running out of time to walk another dog but Rex’s handsome face in his kennel made me make the time. I’m so glad that I did, as he seemed to have been “holding it” and had to use the bathroom multiple times once we got outside. He walked as if he was on a mission, and I can see that since he’s been at the shelter for a while he’s probably not used to regular walks and he wanted to make the most of it. Rex was not jumpy and didn’t seem to mind at all if I crouched down next to him to pet him. He arched his back up against my hand as if he enjoyed the pets and wasn’t bothered by me touching his paws or ears. He does take treats with a “hard mouth” but I used a flat palm (like you’d use for feeding a horse) when giving him chicken and cheese and we had no issues. Rex enjoyed being out in the sun and did some happy wiggles on his back in the grass as if to shake off the stress of being in a kennel 24/7. I hope that he finds his forever home soon and that I don’t have to have too many more walks that end in me taking him back to his kennel and closing the door in front of his disappointed face.
