Raven is a German Short Haired Pointer. Her energy is a “10”! She checks all of the boxes of her breed type. She bonds quickly to people, likes children of all ages (although she is powerful, which may not be safe for younger ones) She’s friendly and can be submissive with people and other dogs. She really enjoys socializing. She’s cooperative during grooming time and has not shown any negative food reactivity. She’s been living in a foster home, and they report that her indoor manners are good. She is housebroken, doesn’t jump on beds/furniture or scratch doors. She is smart and eager to please although her unbridled energy and excitement requires patience. Raven is an intense hunter. She hunts all creatures, large and small, becoming EXTREMELY focused, making it difficult to distract her. A home with cats would be a problem. Raven craves affection. She has separation anxiety and has been fortunate that her foster parents are retired and are at home with her a lot. She was prescribed medication for her separation anxiety, but is was not helpful, so she will need to go to a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time and the adopter is understanding of this condition. A home with other dogs could resolve this issue a bit. Raven has fireworks sensitivity as most dogs do. She loves to play ball and take long, daily, walks. This beautiful girl is an elite athlete, requiring plenty of exercise. She would do well with some who runs or hikes daily and has the patience needed for her special type of breed. Please understand, because she has been in a foster home for quite a while now, we are fortunate enough to know and understand Raven’s quirks and needs and because our goal is to get her into a permanent home, potential adopters will have to be active, tolerant/patient, experienced and loving of this breed.
