This is Cappie and he decided we should switch things up and do Teeth Out Tuesday instead of Tongue Out Tuesday. We agree, and also think he gets an A++ for the best smile, too! He showed up at BAS as a stray a couple of weeks ago, very thin and emaciated (due to pesky intestinal parasites), but friendly and as sweet as could be. We're making sure this handsome boy is getting plenty of good food so he can fill out to a healthy weight soon. This snow white girl with the cutest polka dot ears is Mona Lisa. She is an older girl at around 8 or 9 years old, and was surrendered for landlord issues, so no fault of her own. This sweet girl is spunky, friendly, enjoys attention, and loves running and jumping freely in our fenced yard and playing with toys. She is housetrained, good with kids, and does okay with male dogs. During intake, it was noted that Mona Lisa is a bit lumpy. Buck is sharing his best smiles to show you what you could enjoy EVERY day if you adopt him! This happy, friendly guy came in with 2 other dogs a few weeks ago. Buck is such a nice boy. He is 2 years old and is a good size at 66 lbs. He would probably love a fenced yard to play in and maybe some kids, too. Buck has been a well-behaved guest at BAS but he is ready to say, "adios and hasta la vista" to shelter life. We will be closed for the Easter holiday starting tomorrow, so come meet and adopt Buck today!

Saturday mornings are perfect for enjoying warm, fluffy flapjacks topped with butter and syrup, right? How about every morning? Afternoon? Evening? Well, if you adopt our Flapjack, you can do just that! This cute little guy was running around stray and got into a scuffle with some other dogs. We're not sure who started it, but Flapjack did not end up as the winner. This poor fella seems to have had a rough past and bears some evidence of living life primarily outdoors. We've said this before, but it's the truth--it's amazing what a little TLC and good food can do. This cute little girl is Angelica and she showed up at BAS a little over 3 weeks ago as a stray. She was extremely thin, weighing a mere 29 lbs. She had very little strength or interest in anything, and mostly laid on her bed in her kennel. Fast forward to now and a whole new and much healthier girl has emerged! Angelica has gained almost 20 much needed pounds and looks so much better. Jazz is a gorgeous girl who looks like the dog version of a tiger. She runs like a big cat as well, bouncy, agile, and alert. She whined a little bit when she saw a dog in the next play yard but was otherwise pretty calm. She is the perfect medium size to climb in her person's lap and receive pets (which she did). Her coat is very soft! |

Fun, playful, clownish, and smart--the words that seem to describe Moose. This super cute fella was picked up by the Burlington Police Department a few weeks ago and brought to BAS. He's definitely not a criminal and did nothing wrong, he was just a lost pup who didn't find his way back home. Moose is at least 5 years old and knows some basic commands. He has a happy and friendly personality, and he's ready to bring much laughter, happiness, and love to a lucky person or family's life. Moose did test positive for heartworm but we will be taking... Short-term foster notes, 4/30/24:
Porthos is a sweet, gentle, quirky old man. He is potty trained and will whine at the door when he needs to go out. He rides so well in the car and walks well on a leash. He does react to small animals like squirrels and cats who catch his gaze, so he can be brisk but a gentle tug in the right direction is usually enough to direct him back. Porthos loves soft treats and a welcoming couch. One of his favorites in our home was our water fountain, he loved it!! This unique man requires special care from a patie...
