Fun, playful, clownish, and smart--the words that seem to describe Moose. This super cute fella was picked up by the Burlington Police Department and brought to BAS. He's definitely not a criminal and did nothing wrong, he was just a lost pup who didn't find his way back home. Moose is at least 5 years old and knows some basic commands. He has a happy and friendly personality, and he's ready to bring much laughter, happiness, and love to a lucky person or family's life. Zoom, zoom! Nova LOVES to show off her speedy zoomies and play keep away! This little girl is not quite 2 years old, so she is young and spirited. Nova came to us from another shelter to see if she might have better luck finding her forever home here. We sure hope so because this sweetie has spent too much of her young life in a shelter, and it's not the most ideal place for her--way too much stimulation. Short-term foster notes, 4/30/24:
Porthos is a sweet, gentle, quirky old man. He is potty trained and will whine at the door when he needs to go out. He rides so well in the car and walks well on a leash. He does react to small animals like squirrels and cats who catch his gaze, so he can be brisk but a gentle tug in the right direction is usually enough to direct him back. Porthos loves soft treats and a welcoming couch. One of his favorites in our home was our water fountain, he loved it!! This unique man requires special care from a patie... Rockafella is a good boy. He is a senior guy who has done well to meet and continue to greet the neighborhood children. He is anxious around unknown people and pets. So far, I have been unable to do much about his dislike of cats. It seems to be one of the only things that set him off. He takes 2 walks per day (am and pm), and gets to go out off leash in the back yard as often as he asks. Rocky is extremely calm, loyal, affectionate, and sweet to anyone who he is comfortable around. Once he loves you, he always will. He is very laid back and loves belly rubs and going on walks.
He is uncomfortable around strangers and is protective of his people. He also does not play well with other animals. Although he can be defensive and assertive with other people/animals, Rocky is an amazing and loving dog when in the right environment.
